Background Information

Concrete blocks are popular in the construction industry because of their low cost and consistent appearance. Current construction techniques are cumbersome, labor intensive and costly because mortar is applied between each individual concrete block and between rows or courses of blocks, requiring the use of highly skilled labor. The application of mortar is time consuming and messy. In most instances, a general laborer is required to mix mortar and transport it to the specific job site. Additional batches of mortar must be mixed and used within a specific amount of time or discarded. Excess mortar must be removed from each joint.

In addition to the skilled labor, set up and cleanup problems, any excess mortar between the individual blocks and courses has a tendency to squeeze into the openings, or cells inside the blocks. When this mortar hardens, it leaves irregular shapes and blobs of excess material within the cells. This can be detrimental to structural strength since the excess mortar can displace the structural grout poured into the cells.

Using the Bear Interlockers systems, you get 100% structural grout. In addition, due to the use of bond beam units instead of "standard" CMU blocks, you get a 8% more structural grout within the system.

Maintaining consistent spacing between the individual blocks, as well as between the courses of blocks also poses a problem. Bear Interlocker allows each block to be mounted flush, one block to another.
